With the growing popularity of vaping and increasing support for the health benefits of ecigarettes, we are pleased to announce that Vape Club have partnered up with UK Vaping Industry Association (UKVIA), amongst others to create VApril.
What is VApril you ask? VApril is a month long celebration of all the good things in vaping, from the community, to its inherent health benefits. In 2018 we ask smokers to take the VApril challenge to try and give up the cigarettes for good. It has a similar inspiration to Stoptober in that we are urging people to give up smoking, and in this case pick up a vape.
John Dunne, director of UKVIA has said “This will be the largest campaign ever run by the vaping industry and reflects how far the sector has come in a relatively short period of time”
This comes off the back of the recent PHE Report, with key findings including:
- Vaping poses a fraction of the risk compared to smoking.
- Switching completely from smoking to vaping has substantial health benefits.
- E-cigarettes could be assisting with 20,000 new quits every year.
- E-cigarette use is linked to improved quit success rates a drop in smoking rates across the country.
With the most substantial being – “e-cigarettes are around 95% less harmful than smoking”
The Issue of Cost
One of the biggest drives behind quitting smoking is cost, with an average 20 pack of cigarettes costing £10 in the UK. If you were a light smoker, smoking 10 cigarettes a day, that would cost around £1825 per year. Compared to the use of a disposable cigalike, such as the Vaporlites VL5, which contains the equivalent inhales of 20 cigarettes for £4.99, which would cost you around £912 per year. For 20 a day smokers the average spend would be around £3650 for cigarettes, versus £1825 if you were to use the VL5.
